What brand of running shoe should I be buying for my feet?
That's a question I get asked regularly by patients, which brand of shoe should I be buying.
Just picking a brand of shoes like Adidas, Asics, Nike and saying that that's going to be a good shoe for you, it's not that simple.
When we start looking at shoes it's a bit like looking at a car brand.
If you look at a brand like Toyota, they have people movers, they have vans for moving goods around, they have SUVs for families.
You know there's a different car for different purposes and it's the same when we're looking at shoes.
So within a shoe brand like Brooks, there's a number of different shoes they're going to suit a number of different feet that require different things.
Some need cushioning, some need support, some need a little bit of a heel lift to help take some pressure off the calf, others you know need this really thick sole unit that helps take some pressure off their archers and their muscles and their feet.
So when we start looking at shoes it can become quite complex to work out exactly what you need for your feet.
But what I do know is that when people start asking me about what shoe brand they should be getting, it generally means that they're having problems or pain with their feet.
So if that's you, it's time to see us at Feetology Podiatry Centre so that we can help you work out exactly what's going on with your feet and what's going to be the best shoe to get you back on your feet and doing your activity and exercises as quickly as possible.
